Although there is widespread acknowledgement and acceptance as to the influence of the mind on performance - why is it that there is such a shortfall in the amount of time spent developing this aspect of our game?
This course aims to investigate different elements of performance and allow the individual to explore, develop and nurture the key requirements for peak performance, whatever your chosen discipline.
Chris works with individual athletes on a 1-1 basis or within teams or sports organisations supporting them in their goal of pursuing excellence both on and off the court, course, court, stage or pitch !
Chris's extensive knowledge and in depth understanding of the physical and psychological aspects of pain makes him well equipped and adept in helping individuals work with chronic pain.
The sessions aim to explore different elements of chronic pain and the way we relate to it. Our automatic and habitual reactive patterns often add to the problem rather than alleviating.
By developing skills and knowledge around pain, both its causes and exaggerating factors, it is possible to ease the way that we live with these ongoing health challenges.
Chris has a long history of working with individuals struggling with anxiety and depression. He uses and utilises mindfulness based approaches to help and create change.
When our attention is habitually focussed in the past it tends to bring with it a sense of sadness or depression and when it is ruminating about the future it brings anxiety - the " what if" thoughts !
By developing a better awareness of the automatic and habitual patterns of our mind we have the possibility of creating a change in the way we engage with our thoughts and emotions and the way we behave - lessening the grip of anxiety and depression.
This approach has a strong evidence base for the management of both of these challenges.
Daniel Goleman first coined the term emotional intelligence. Since it's inception there has been widespread interest and engagement in the subject and it's applicability within the corporate world.
The course explore the key elements of social intelligence :
Chris has taught these courses within many organisations with great benefit to both the individual and the business.
He is a firm believer that there is a symbiotic relationship between who we are at home and who we are at work.
Chris has an extensive experience of teaching 8 week mindfulness based cognitive therapy courses - He has facilitated over 50 such courses. These courses, developed by Mark Williams of Oxford University, have a proven track record of helping with chronic pain , depression, anxiety and unhappiness.
The shorter 4 week course offers a lighter exploration of the key elements of mindfulness. Provides a foundation and a stepping stone for those wishing to explore and engage in a deeper way.
